It is with a heavy heart that we tell you a Union Brother, Darryl Claussen Jr, of CWA Local 6171 and his family lost their son, Christian Riley Garcia, in the tragic shooting at Santa Fe High School near Houston, Texas May 18.

AFSCME Care Plan for Hearing Aids - NOTE: We negotiated this benefit in our bargaining process, but you must enroll in the program - enrollment forms will be mailed to your home soon. Please do so by filling out and returning it so that if you (or a family member) needs the service later, you are enrolled. It is open to both AFSCME and CWA bargaining units. It covers $1,500 per ear every four years. The Claim Form can be used in the interim. View the Plan Details.

CWA Pay Structure April 24, 2018
IMPORTANT REMINDER! On April 22, 2018, which starts pay period 9, CWA members will receive a 3% pay rate adjustment. This percentage base increase (PBI) will appear on your May 10th paycheck.
This will coincide with your pay grade structure adjustment of 6%, which is effective the same payroll period. Refer to the CWA Pay Structure link below.

Janus VS AFSCME Bus Trip to Washington DC
Bus Trip Information:
CWA4502 sponsored a bus that left Columbus, Ohio at 11:45 pm on Sunday 2/25/18. Free seating and parking was provided.
The group arrived in Washington D.C. by 9:00 am Monday February 26 to march in front of the Supreme Court while testimony was heard on the Janus versus AFSCME case.
This union busting case is an attempt to defund unions and squelch the voice of middle class and working families. A large crowd from across the county made sure their voices were heard. Thank you to all those representing Columbus, Ohio and CWA4502. View the Brief.

A Working People's Day of Action

Saturday February 24, A Working People's Day of Action was be held at the Ohio State House from 11:00 to 1:00 pm. Despite the rain, hundreds gathered in opposition to the Janus versus AFSCME case to be heard by SCOTUS.
Thousands of people gathered in cities across the country, including San Diego, CA, Washington, DC, Miami, FL, Detroit, MI, St. Paul, MN, New York City, NY, Columbus, OH, Philadelphia, PA, Memphis, TN, and Chicago, IL.
Attacks against working people are mounting! From proposed anti-worker ballot initiatives in Ohio to a national court case, Janus v. AFSCME Council 31, that could make the entire nation Right to Work, working people and their union rights are under attack. But workers aren’t standing down!
